ECU Musicology Vol. 1 - House of the Rising Sun

The first in a series of ECU musicology lessons exploring music history. This inaugural show dives into the origin of the Animals' classic 1964 electrified folk song "House of the Rising Sun." The song's lyrics are set in New Orleans, the melody comes from the English countryside and the earliest recordings come from Appalachia. And of course, was there ever an actual House of the Rising Sun.
